It’s been a very light writing month for me. Instead, I’ve been mowing my acreage, cleaning my houseage, and spreadsheeting my eyeballs out. Here’s what I’ve learned: When you want to finance a BBQ restaurant, your small business support team will expect you to estimate every cost, of which there are only thirty-five if you lump a hundred food item costs into one sum.
To zero in on a sales estimate, I designed this alogrithm:
Per ALDOT website, approx. 20,000 cars currently pass the location on an average day. That number of cars will likely decrease once the Baldwin Beach Expressway extension opens. ALDOT and Baldwin County did not respond with data for the expected effect on Highway 59 traffic, so I will estimate a 30% decrease in passing vehicles. Using this reduced 14,000 car-per-day estimate, If one out of every 250 cars visits and purchases 1.5 meals, that equals about 2270 meals sold per month. |
Does that sound kosher? I don’t mean to brag, but I am a very good guesser, so I bet that algorithm will be spot on.
Also, what is an algorithm?
